In Gauteng, South Africa, in an area known as the West Rand, is a Whatsapp group with parents who homeschool their children. A number of the families represented include children with dyslexia. The group often shares their questions and concerns;  their suggestions and encouragement.

In January 2023 there was a lot of discussion regarding the anxiety that dyslexia causes in the learning situation, as well as in life in general. From this, the idea for a homeschooling dyslexia conference took root.

This page contains recordings of the conference that was held in March 2023. It was expected that perhaps a few people, locally, would meet and ask some of the homeschool parents or educators to share their knowledge with the group, but it soon transpired that there was a great need countrywide for people who needed the information, so the conference was offered online.

The hope is that this conference will become an annual event, and that it will grow into a resource that will help and inspire parents of children with dyslexia, and other barriers to learning.

Soon people on the group asked us to invite 2 presenters from outside of South Africa, so we invited them as well.
